Plácido Domingo departs Met Opera over sexual harassment claims

Plácido Domingo has parted company with the Metropolitan Opera after recent allegations of sexual harassment, bring his 51 years association with the Met to an end.

Initial reports indicate the renowned Spanish Tennor has been accused of sexual harassment which he denies, by at least 20 women, some of these women have also stated that he indicated that if they did not agree with his advances then their careers would be affected. These claims have been released in two published reports by the Associated Press news organisation.

All future engagements including the Macbeth performances on the 25 and 18th September and the 1st October plus four future performances of Madam Butterfly.

If these allegations are proven, and they have not been as of yet then this would bring to an end a remarkable career spanning over 60 years.

Domingo, aged 78, has not made any further comment apart from the above.
