New Chinese Flu virus could become pandemic

Scientists in China say that a new strain of flu recently found in China has the potential to become the next pandemic

The new virus is carried by pigs but can infect humans they say adding that if it mutates further, it could spread quickly from human to human triggering yet another global outbreak on a world still battling the COVID-19 pandemic

Fearing the worse, the scientist informed a startled hall of onlookers by saying that "as it is new people would have little or no immunity to the virus"

Prof Kin-Chow Chang and colleagues all working at the prestigious Nottingham University in the UK say it is one to look out for, explaining further by saying symptoms indicate that indeed it can grow and even multiply within cells which line a person's airways

Already infections have been found in people most of whom have worked at abattoirs situated around mainland China

According to the same scientists, there are no current flu vaccines available to control what they say could be a potential Pandemic creating virus

Prof Kin-Chow Chang, working at the Nottingham University in the United Kingdom, informed BBC journalists that right now people are distracted with the coronavirus and rightly so. However, we must not lose sight of potentially dangerous new viruses."

Mr Chang ended his statement by saying although the virus is not immediately problematic it should not be ignored
